Matthew M.

Gila River Sand & Gravel
Equipment Operator

Matt has been working in the industry since 2012. He is an equipment operator for Gila River Sand & Gravel and has experience with the Water-pool, 980 Loader, 775 Haul Truck and 769 Haul Truck. He is a husband and father of one son. He is the second generation of his family working in the mining industry after his father who worked 3 1/2 years in a copper mine and 34 years at Santan pit and his brother who is still with Gila River Sand & Gravel after 18 years. He has been a member of the ARPA young leaders group since 2017 and enjoys his off time with family, hunting, off-roading, camping, listening to music, playing sports and grilling.

Vulcan Materials Company - Mountain West Division
Environmental Specialist

Sydney grew up in Lincoln, Nebraska where she graduated from Lincoln Southwest High School and worked for her father at their family Cafe and Pie Shoppe; baking pies and serving tables. She moved to Tucson, Arizona and attended the University of Arizona to later graduate with a Mining Engineering degree in 2016. She now works alongside managers and operators to ensure that environmental compliance is met for regulators. She is a member of the ARPA Environmental Committee and in her lesiure time she enjoys running, spending time at home watching television or playing board games and spending time with any and all dogs.

Gary S.

Southwest Asphalt
Sales Manager

Gary's love of mining came from his father and grandfather who were coal miners in Pikeville, Kentucky. He was born and raised in Cleveland, Ohio and attended Bowling Green State University where he earned a BSBA in Marketing. This is also where he met his wife Angela who also works in the industry for Fiberforce by ABC Polymer. He enjoys hiking, snowboarding, enjoying a glass of wine with his wife and playing with their Australian Shepherds.

Rebecca K.

CalPortland Company
Environmental Specialist

As an Environmental Specialist Rebecca's duties include providing technical support to operations, conducting routine site inspections, leading new hire and annual environmental training for Phoenix and Tucson regions, and obtaining environmental permits for our mining and concrete batch plant operations. She is also the Chair to the Arizona Rock Products Environment Committee.

Rebecca enjoys spending time with family, animals, and friends. On her spare time, she likes to hike, kayak, and volunteer at a raptor (bird of prey) rescue. She has ten animals including four chickens, three cats, two German Shepherds and one duck.

Justin W.

CEMEX - Phoenix Aggregates Division
Logistics Manager

Justin attended Arizona State University and earned a BA in Sustainability and a minor in Applied Business Data Analytics. As a logistics manager he coordinates efficient movements of aggregate products from quarries to customers. He is a current member of CEMEX Supply Chain Global Network and is tasked with modernization of transport planning, customer experience and order fulfillment processes. In his spare time he enjoys international travel, destination marathons, trail running and extreme hiking.

Tyler completed a bachelors degree from Northern Arizona University in Business Administration. He had now been in the mining industry for nine years learning several different positions such as Account Specialist, Wet Plant Operator, Cone Crusher Operator, Jaw Crusher Operator, Equipment Operator, Labor and Weigh Master.

Deissy A.

Vulcan Materials Company - Mountain West Division
Small Business Account Representative

Deissy studied Criminal Justice at the University of Phoenix before going into the mining industry. She now works with Vulcan Materials to promote and sell Asphalt, Aggregates, Landfill and Trucking Services. She received the Rookie year, "Excellence in Sales" Award and is part of the Arizona Chamber of Commerce and 2018 Industry Fellow. She is active with ARPA Young Leaders Committee as a Co- Chairman and a ARPA Community Relations Committee member when she isn't out sight-seeing, attending sporting events, star gazing, working out or spending quality tine with her son.

Sales Representative

Joel is a husband and father of two girls. He has spent 13 years in the industry with two years of that in ready mix dispatch, nine years as asphalt dispatch, and currently in asphalt sales, excelling in customer relations. He was a member of ARPA Young Leaders in 2015 and Young innovators of Hanson. With his off time, he enjoys hunting, fishing and outdoor activities.

Shane B.

Salt River Materials Group (SRMG)
Safety Manager for the aggregates division

Shane was born and raised in Arizona.  Right after high school he joined the US Army National Guard where he  served in the 855 Military Police unit for 4 years.  He has been married to wife Alisa for 32 years and enjoys sharing their lives with their two daughters Amanda and Amber.  When he is not working he enjoy the outdoors with his family by going hunting, camping, 4 wheeling and riding motorcycles.   Shane's career background comes from the heavy haul trucking industry which has also kept him involved in the mining industry for over 35 years. Sixteen years ago, he went to work for Salt River Materials Group (SRMG) where he is currently the Safety Manager for the aggregates division. His service with SRMG has allowed him to become more involved in the mining industry and associations like the Arizona Rock Products Association where he has served as the Chairman for the Safety and Transportation Committee from 2012 to 2013.  It has also allowed Shane the flexibility to volunteer his time to the Mountain View High School Marching Band. For the last 6 years he has driven their Semi Truck, hauling their equipment for local football games and out of town parades like Macy’s in New York City to the Citrus Bowl parade in Orlando Florida. Two good things he can tell you about the mining industry are : No two days are the same, and every day is an adventure.

Beau is a husband and father of one daughter. He graduated with a degree in Business Administration from ASU. He now oversees and facilitates all sales for the Pavement Maintenance Division with M.R. Tanner Construction. When away from work, he enjoys sports, surfing, hunting, fishing and vacationing with family.

Northern Arizona District Manager

Brandon is a husband and a father of three. He has been working with CEMEX for 13 years. He trains account managers with using the sales management systems. The also trains and certifies teams in the lean management operations. He is proud of his career with CEMEX and the fact that they are building a better future. He loves coaching youth sports and hunting when he isn't training the next generation of miners.

Safety Director and Quality Control

McKay was born and raised in the industry of concrete. He is attending ASU and studying Finance. He works within the family company to ensure safety and the quality of rock products in their concrete production and is an active member of the ARPA Safety Committee. He enjoys anything active in the outdoors.
